Layon A.
22 years of service
A military veteran and 22-year public servant to the residents of Cook County, working from home was a challenge for Layon who enjoys working alongside his coworkers and onboarding new staff members.
Like many of his colleagues, he knows several loved ones who have contracted or passed away from COVID. So, when the vaccine was first announced, he knew this was his chance to protect himself. This is the same thing Layon tells his friends and family: “You have to think safety first. You may not think you’ll catch COVID, but you could get someone around you sick.”
Since being vaccinated, Layon had the opportunity to see his daughter graduate from college during an in-person ceremony – a milestone he and his wife didn’t want to miss.
