  • To Protect Others: Getting vaccinated must be a community effort. The more people vaccinate, the better we can protect those we care for most.

    To Protect Yourself: While seniors and people with pre-existing health conditions are the most at risk, we have all learned that COVID-19 can cause severe illness and even death in young, healthy individuals.

    To Move Forward: Being vaccinated allows us to get back to doing the things we have missed. Hugging our loved ones, going to church, meeting friends for dinner. Don’t miss out.

  • YES. As variants continue to emerge, the vaccine has shown to be significantly effective in protecting fully vaccinated individuals. Beyond protecting ourselves, it also limits the variant from spreading and developing into a new variant.

  • The best way to tackle an issue is to start before it becomes a problem. While the number of cases has decreased, that doesn’t guarantee there will not be outbreaks in the future, either from current strains of COVID-19 or variants.

  • YES. Even individuals who have already had COVID-19 once have become infected again. Getting the vaccine is the best way to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

How do I know that this vaccine is safe?

Like other vaccines, development of the COVID-19 vaccine followed the same, strict FDA safety standards and was tested on tens of thousands of volunteers from different races, ethnicities and ages, all to ensure widespread effectiveness and minimal harm.

Is the vaccine safe for my health concerns?

YES. Almost everyone can receive the vaccine, regardless of most underlying health issues, allergies and medications.

Will this vaccine give me COVID-19?

NO. Unlike the development of some other vaccines, the COVID-19 vaccine doesn’t contain any part of the live virus, making it impossible to get COVID-19 from the vaccine.

Is the vaccine safe for children?

YES. The Pfizer vaccine has shown effectiveness in children ages 12 and older. Additional trials are taking place to ensure safety for younger children.

As the State of Illinois moves to Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Coronavirus Restore Plan, Cook County hereby updates the Personal Protective Equipment (“PPE”) Policy. The use of PPE is required in all common areas of Cook County facilities. PPE is essential in limiting exposure to any potential infections disease exposure and reducing the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and other potential infectious or hazardous elements.
